Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders

We believe that young voices are crucial in shaping the policies that will define our future. Our mission includes equipping young people with the knowledge and tools they need to actively participate in the legislative process and advocate for meaningful change.

Inserting Youth into the Legislative Process

Through our comprehensive training programs and advocacy efforts, we have successfully introduced numerous young advocates to the intricacies of legislative work. Our initiatives have led to increased youth representation in various legislative committees and public forums, where their perspectives and ideas are making a real impact.

Fellowship Programs

Our Policy & Organizing Fellowship and Junior Policy Fellowship are designed to give high school and college students the opportunity to gain skills in climate action and political organizing. These programs offer:

  • In-depth Legislative Training: Fellows learn how to read and research bills, understand the operations of the New Jersey State Legislature, and effectively communicate with elected officials.

  • Hands-on Experience: Fellows attend CRAN working meetings, learn how to use organizing technology, participate in public hearings, and tour the New Jersey State Capitol.

  • Independent Projects: Each fellow completes an independent project that could range from drafting a bill to creating a multimedia piece.

  • Mentorship: Fellows are guided by CRAN supervisors who provide support and feedback throughout the program.
